1. Before you order

We recommend that you measure your project very carefully and add bleed. It's important to add extra to your order just in case. Wallflower Goods prints on-demand and some color variations can happen if you need to order more material later on. It's important to note that our wallpaper panels come with 1 inch of overlap. This helps line up the pattern as you install and will be trimmed away.

Next, consider the texture of your walls. Is it bumpy? Orange Peel? Knock down? or Smooth? Textured walls are not always suitable for wallpaper application and should be skim coated for best results.

Ordering a sample is strongly encouraged! Samples are a great way to ensure the scale, pattern, and colorway is exactly what you had envisioned for your project before committing to a full order.

2. Understand your pattern

Check the wallpaper pattern description for important information regarding the repeat. This may make a difference in how much you need to order. Some patterns require one panel to repeat, others take two or more.

3. Let's get prepped

Inspect your project area for any holes, peeling paint, or imperfections as these may show through the wallpaper. We suggest repairing these issues and then wipe down with a clean dry cloth. For best results, walls should be primed 3 weeks prior to your intended install date.

4. Gather your materials

You will need:

-an X-acto knife

-squeegee

-level

-ruler

-pencil

-step stool

-scissors

-painter's tape

5. Install time

The following instructions are for the installation of our Peel & Stick material. We recommend professional installation for our Canvas and Eco Paper materials.

First, you'll want to remove all switch plates and outlet covers. Then find a true vertical line or plumb line. This will help you keep your panels level as you move across the wall.

When you're ready to place your first panel, remember to leave a little bit of room at the top of your panel, knowing you will trim off the excess in the end. We recommend NOT aligning the top of the panel flush with the ceiling, as most walls are not completely straight.

Peel the paper from the backing about 6"-8" at a time - smoothing with your squeegee as you go. We suggest smoothing from the center to the edges in an "s" shape, making your way down the panel.

Once you've hung your first panel, align the next panel and repeat the process. You can use painter's tape to help align the panels before removing the backing and smoothing down to ensure your repeat matches up perfectly.
